In 1994 the branch of the Academy of Engineering Sciences was founded. A.M. Prokhorov, transformed in 1999 into a scientific and technical association "Institute of telecommunications". In 2002 CJSC "Institute of telecommunications" was registered as a legal successor to works performed by NTO in the interests of the Ministry of Defense.
